PaidTrail
Built for TRICARE Overseas & VA Foreign Medical Program claims

Every receipt.
Every deadline.
One claim, built for you.

Claims paperwork for care you got overseas is scattered, confusing, and easy to get wrong — and a mistake can mean a denied or delayed reimbursement. PaidTrail keeps your receipts organized, reads your bills for you, tracks your filing deadline, and builds your DD Form 2642 or VA claim packet automatically.

No credit card. Your SSN and DoD Benefits Number are never stored on our servers.

Filing overseas isn't the hard part. Keeping track of it is.

Receipts get lost

A bill from a clinic abroad, a card slip, a bank statement — scattered across your phone, your email, and a folder somewhere. By the time you're ready to file, half of it is gone.

Deadlines sneak up

TRICARE gives you 3 years; VA FMP gives you 2, less if it's from a discharge date. Miss it, even by a day, and the claim can be refused outright.

The forms are unforgiving

The DD Form 2642 and the VA's cover sheet want exact dates, exact amounts, and specific proof of payment. One wrong box is a rejected claim and a resubmission from scratch.

How it works

From a photo of a bill to a claim ready to submit, in four steps.

  1. 1

    Upload your itemized bill

One receipt, or a whole batch at once. PDF, JPG, PNG or Word — PaidTrail reads the provider, date, amount and currency for you. Seeing the same doctor every week? Repeat visits are grouped into one running total automatically.

  2. 2

    Add your proof of payment

A bank statement, a card slip, a stamped receipt, an EFT confirmation. PaidTrail knows what counts and reminds you if it's missing before it's a problem.

  3. 3

    We track the deadline

Every claim shows a clear, color-coded countdown from the moment it's created, so nothing quietly expires while you're focused on getting care.

  4. 4

    Generate your claim packet

One click builds your filled DD Form 2642 or VA cover sheet, plus a ready-to-submit ZIP with your bills and proof of payment sorted into their own folders.

Two programs, two rulebooks. PaidTrail keeps them straight.

TRICARE Overseas and VA FMP have different forms, different deadlines, and different documentation rules. PaidTrail never mixes them up.

TRICARE Overseas

For service members and their families getting care abroad under TRICARE, the military's health plan. PaidTrail tracks your 3-year filing window, checks your proof-of-payment against TRICARE's own rules, and fills the DD Form 2642 from your saved profile.

VA Foreign Medical Program

For veterans getting treated overseas for a service-connected condition. PaidTrail tracks the stricter 2-year window, organizes your bills around the VA's own Section II checklist, and fills the VA's claimant cover sheet.

Built for people whose data matters

This is medical and financial information. Here's exactly what we do, and don't do, with it.

Your SSN never touches our servers

Filling in a Social Security Number or DoD Benefits Number happens entirely in your browser. If you choose to save one for next time, it's encrypted on your own device with your passkey (Windows Hello, Face ID, or fingerprint) — never sent to us, never readable by anyone but you.

Every claim and receipt is locked to your account

PaidTrail is built on row-level security at the database level, not just a check in the app: another account can't read or change your claims, receipts or files, even in principle.

Automatic reading is opt-in, and honestly explained

If you turn it on, a receipt's picture is sent to Anthropic to read the printed fields, one receipt at a time, with nothing else attached. Anthropic's published terms say it deletes what it receives within 30 days and doesn't use it to train its models. We store neither the picture nor the result.

No analytics, ever

We don't track you around the app, and we never log the personal details you type in. You're a service member or a military family; your data is treated like it matters.

Frequently asked questions

Is PaidTrail an official TRICARE or VA tool?

No. PaidTrail is an independent tool built to help you organize your own paperwork and fill out the DD Form 2642 and VA Form 10-7959f-2. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by TRICARE, the Department of Defense, or the Department of Veterans Affairs. You still submit your claim through TRICARE's or the VA's own channels.

What files can I upload?

PDF, JPG, PNG and Word (.docx) files are read automatically. Excel, TIFF and older .doc files are kept with your claim but typed in by hand, since they can't be read the same way.

How does automatic reading work, and can I turn it off?

When you upload a bill, PaidTrail can read the provider, date, amount and currency for you and fill in the card — you always check it before it's saved. It's opt-in the first time you use it, and you can switch it off in Settings and type everything by hand instead.

Does PaidTrail know if I'm about to miss a deadline?

Yes. Every claim shows a color-coded countdown from the moment it's created: green while you have time, amber inside the last 60 days, and a clear warning once it's passed. TRICARE Overseas gives you 3 years from the date of service; VA FMP gives you 2 (or 2 years from discharge for an inpatient stay).

Is this only for active-duty families?

TRICARE Overseas covers service members and their families getting care abroad. VA FMP is separate: it's for veterans being treated overseas for a service-connected condition. PaidTrail supports both, with their own forms and rules.

What does PaidTrail cost?

PaidTrail is free to use right now while it's in active development. Pricing will be announced here before anything changes.
